During the open enrollment period, benefit eligible employees can drop, change or enroll in the System Office medical, dental, and vision insurance plans as well as the Flexible Spending Accounts. Enrollments and changes submitted during the open enrollment period will take effect on January 1, 2014. If you don’t want to make changes to your medical, dental, or vision coverage, no action is required. Enrollment in these plans will continue in 2014 unless a change is made.
It is important to note that changes to your enrollment in Medical, Dental and Vision insurance as well as changes regarding Flexible Spending accounts can be made only during Open Enrollment and during the 30 day period immediately following a “life change” event. There are two types of qualifying life events:
- Family Status Change (marriage, divorce, childbirth, adoption of child, death of a spouse/dependent, or a child ceasing to be a dependent)
- Employment Status Change (changes in your full-time status with the System Office that affect your eligibility or changes in your spouse’s employment that affect benefit coverage)
Be sure to notify HR within 30 days of a qualifying life event to make any benefit changes.
This is also a great time to consider additional life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance (AD&D), and life insurance for dependents.
To Enroll or Make Changes, you must submit completed forms.
All completed and signed forms must be received in Human Resources by no later than 5:00p.m. CST Friday, November 29, 2013.

Insurance premiums are deducted one month in advance. Changes in your insurance deductions submitted during the open enrollment period will appear on your December 2013 paycheck. Flexible Spending Account deductions for the 2014 plan year will begin January 2014.
