UA System Scholars Institute
The UA System Scholars Institute is hosted each year on a rotating basis by one of our three universities and is open to faculty, staff, and administration from all three campuses. The 8th Annual Scholars Institute was held May 12-13, 2015 at the UAB Center for Teaching and Learning. This year’s theme was Empowering Today’s Learners: Leveraging Innovation, Technology, and Universal Design.
The Scholars Institute fosters a shared community of knowledge between the three UA System campuses. It brings us together to explore best practices and new ideas for technology in our teaching, learning, and research. 2015 tracks included “Research outcomes: teaching strategies for the classroom,” “Technology empowering research: big data, high speed computing, GEO research and more,” and “Teaching today’s learners: cloud based technology, universal design, and innovation.”
A diverse cross-section of faculty and staff members from each of the three campuses, combined with invigorating keynote speakers and panels, make the Scholars Institute an exciting and collaborative event. Presentations, poster sessions, panels, and workshops on technology-related topics allow us to educate, to learn, and to renew our enthusiasm for our mission of teaching, research, and service.
